Happy Birthday Joyce Ung! =)

It's the start of pre-camp day 2.Thankfully, our whole unit came. =) At 7, we all met up at the campsite and talked with the EXCO's for a little while we wait for our fellow scouts.

Soon, the scouts of Unit 3 and 4 started on the gateway while us guides started with the clothes line and shoe rack. So we got started and tied the platform, etc.

The time flew by fast. Soon, it was lunch time. So off we went to McDonald's. Although the air-conditioned air was cooling, we had to leave and head back to the campsite to finish our 1st gadget.

Along the way, the fellow campers were all very supporting. Some sang, some danced. But the highlight of the day was the dance-off between Cobra and Unit 2, and Jian Ming's dance on the gateway. I have the videos, but I think they will come after us if we posted it up. =)

Tomorrow's the last day of pre-camp. Then the real deal begins. Let's just pray for the best.

Before I begin, I would like to wish our fellow school-mate/camp-mate a very happy birthday.

Happy 15th Birthday Wen Thing.

Now back to the meeting. Meeting held at at Nicole's house once again. But today's meeting only consists of the 3 of us :

Anyways, I reached Nicole's house at 10. Instead of waiting for the turtle (Chan), we decided to get started on our camp things as it is our last day to do a full touch up on everything. First stop, souvenirs.

When Chan reached, she gave me a hand on the souvenirs. After finishing it, we had our lunch.

After lunch, we practiced our dance. Once again, all three of us danced, so there are no pictures available. At 3.30, we decided to visit Winnie over at Island Glades.

At 5.30, we had to walk home. So we said bye-bye to Winnie and left. We continued on the souvenirs when we got home. After another half hour, we started cleaning up.

Brace yourselves for a crazy post as us dancers had our own meeting today, and we went crazy during break time.

At 10, everyone reached Nicole's house. Wei Thing and I began on the souvenirs while Chan and Nicole were researching something on the computer. But we were eager to start on our dance so that it would be perfect for Campfire Night.

So we headed down to the Games Room to practice. I don't have a picture of us dancing brcause there wasn't anyone to take the pictures for us. But I do have some crazy pictures here. =)

We got bored of the scenery, so we headed to the swimming pool.

After 10 minutes of enjoying the cold water, we went up to have our lunch. Nicole's mother was kind enough to prepare a meal for us. Thank you. =)

At 2.30, we went back down to the Games Room and started practicing once again. We managed to perfect 3 quarter of our dance.

As we all know, Selection Day was held today at Youth Park. Well, allow me to start the post off with our selection-day-preperation meeting.

We, Zara, Chan, Wei Thing and Li Jean went over to Nicole's house to practice our guides dance. We used the games room that was available as it had ample space for us to move about in privacy.

After practising for nearly 4 hours, we received a call from the EXCO's saying they'll be visiting us very soon. Well, we reacted quite naturally... we freaked out. Soon, the EXCO's together with some ex-scouts came. There 24 people in total.

We performed part of our guides dance to the EXCO's. Then they adviced us... chit chat a little while, and left for another visit to another patrol. Jessica stayed back to talk to us.

At 5.30, Zara, Chann, Jess and I left Nicole's house, leaving Nicole, Wei Thing and Li Jean to prepare for Selection Day. Everyone came back to my house and Chan and I kept practicing our dance.

Soon everyone left, and we got started on packing our bags for Selection Day. Information was passed out to members on where and when to meet at Youth Park.

At approximately 10, everyone from Unit 3 reached. We moved our practice to the canteen as there were too many people in the stage area.

At 12.30, everyone reported in. After breaking off, we immediately took off for the toilet to change into our dancing clothes. We changed fast enough to catch Unit 1's guides dance.

At 4, it was our turn to show the EXCO's what we've been doing for the past few weeks. We started off with the combined dance, and continued with the guides. The scouts performed earlier during Unit 4's turn.

After the performance, us dancers felt very hungry as we did not eat our breakfast and lunch. So we headed on the canteen to get our tea.

At 5.45, everyone started changing back into their uniforms, preparing for the results.

At 6, TL Alvin Cheah called us in and the results were announced. Congratulations to Unit 2 for getting all 3 dance, sketch and speciality in. Can't wait to see you guys perform during campfire night. If I manage to recall the rest of the result, I will post it up.

It's to more days to Selection. I'm pretty sure everyone's freaking out. Well, we did as much as we can to prepare ourselves for the upcoming selection day. It was a full guides meeting, Nicole, Wei Thing, Yee Lin, Zara and Min Sze... and You Gene.

Okay. To those who understand as to why the title has a question mark and an exclamation mark, I ran out of ideas for the title, so yeah. =)

Anyways, today's meeting was held at Zara's place instead of mine (that's the little change I was talking about). Told you it was little. Okay back to the meeting. So today, the two head-chefs were suppose to cook for us Dryads to test their skill for the mordern cooking competition. But unfortunately, our dear Nicole couldn't make it due to transport problems. So I stepped in and took her place... for the moment. The attendees for today were Zara, Min Sze, Ai Leen and JoJo.

At 9, Zara's mum fetched us both to the market to get our ingredients for our feast. Our hands were covered with chicken-water so we couldn't take pictures. After the marketing, we hopped over to a shop to get our breakfast. We then walked back to Zara's house.

Once we reached home, we got started. We cleaned the vegetables and the chicken and we prepared whatever that was needed for the feast.

Then Zara wanted to try frying one first, just to be on the safe side. So in goes Willy.

5 minutes later, we took a bow...

Then, Zara shouted "LOOK! My chicken has eyes!" out of the blue.

When Ai Leen made her appearence, we started on the dance again. But we soon got really tired. So we sat down and did the sketch. It was 5 when we decided we deserved a well-deserved rest and played some board games. Meeting ended at 7 when everyone went home. Well, I think the post is long enough. X)

No, we did not have a party. But we did have a meeting. As usual, the meeting was held at my house. Those who were present were JoJo, Wei Thing, Min Sze, Yee Lin, Zara, Nicole and Li Jean. The reason why only one scout was present is because some of them are still celebrating... i think.

Anyways, the meeting started off with the dance... yes. Again. But soon Li Jean joined us. That's when the sketch comes in. Zara and JoJo joined Li Jean with the skecth while Nicole, Yee Lin, Min Sze and myself practiced the dance. Wei Thing was the photographer for today. So she was running around taking as many pictures as she can.

Nicole had to teach us the moves as she is the choreographer. But we caught the moves very fast.

At the same time, the sketch-planners were busy in another room.

Li Jean the sketch-planner. She loves the bouncy ball. She sat on it throughout the whole meeting.

At 5, we all got hungry. So we headed down to KFC to have some finger-lickin'-good fried chicken. Halfway of our feast, JoJo had to leave to meet his friends. He stuffed down all his chicken quickly because he didn't want to leave it uneaten. He feels sorry for them if they were left there uneaten. After the feast, it was Min Sze's turn to leave.

On our walk home, we stopped by 7-11 because Yee Lin and Nicole wanted Slurpees.

2nd last day of school. Well, we held a meeting in the school canteen. Those who attended the meeting were Wei Thing, Zara, Yee Lin and Nicole.

So once everyone was present, Nicole started teaching me the guides dance while Wei Thing did the logbook whereas Zara and Yee Lin were discussing... something.

Sadly, the music had to be at its minimum volume as the Form Fives were sitting for their SPM English Paper 2. *good luck*

It was a short meeting sadly. But since the school term is coming to an end, we'll have longer meetings everyday. Perhaps 10 hours? XD

P.S... I did take pictures but my phone died. I promise promise promise I will post it up if I can revive my phone. =)

Night School?

Since camp is around the corner, us guides decided to be a little more hardworking. With that, a few guides came to my house after school. Those few guides were Nicole and Yee Lin.

Zara and I weren't going to school, so we started the meeting first. After lunch, Zara came over to my place and we started on the menu. Zara gave ideas while I sketched out a rough copy of the menu.

Nice? No? Well, it's just a rought sketch. It may or may not be on the real menu. ;D
Anyway, we continued planning our fancy dress and souvenirs.

Later on, after dinner and when the others came, we started on the souvenir. But just to be on the safe side, and not waste any of our valueable materials, we experimented on my calculator. It's time to spray paint! X)

After spraying, we left it to dry. Meanwhile...

We played with the dog.

But soon, we became impatient... and all four of us had itchy hands. So we went inside to grab something to help increase the rate of drying.

But the air coming out was too little and barely made a difference. So we went for the bigger one.

It's way faster than the small one earlier.

The time flew by quickly and soon, all of them went back home. After cleaning up, I decided to continue with the logbook... until now. =) Stay tuned for more updates as we are having meetings every night at my house.

As usual, a meeting was held at my house. Among those who came were UL Wei Sheng, You Gene and JoJo for the scouts, and Zara, Yee Lin, Min Sze and Ai Leen. Nicole was absent as she was kind enough to buy the materials for our souvenirs today. =)

We started the meeting by practising our combined dance. We then moved on to the logbook. Ai Leen wrote the details about Dryad while Zara and Min Sze went interviewing each member for the information needed to complete the biodata section of the logbook.

At approximately 4 o'clock, Ai Leen had to leave, so I carried on with the logbook while the others discussed about the souvenirs, sketch and speciality. After a while, we all got little bit tired. So, we went downstairs for a break and talked for a half hour.

We carried on discusing at 6 so that we can finish it before someone leaves. At 8, the last two person left and the meeting ended. All in all, we had great fun while progressing... a lot. =)

Yes, we practised our dance again. But this time, the guys had to learn their part for the combined dance.

The meeting started at 11. Among those who came were Zara, Yee Lin, Nicole, UL Wei Sheng, You Gene and JoJo. Since all 3 guys who came were in the dance, they spent the day learning their moves with Zara, Yee Lin and Nicole helping them while I finished the gadget tags.

It's Just You & Me

I'm here for a short post about what Zara & I did for today. Since the two of us aren't going to school on Thurday and we live near each other, Zara decided to sleepover at my place and get started on things.

But before that, we went to Kamdar to get our fancy dress materials after school. We searched and searched for the perfect cloth texture and colour that suits our model. At around 9.45, we finally got the perfect cloth.

Back at my house, Zara and I started on the dress. At the same time, we did the name tags. We decided to stop fiddling with the dress at around 12.30 and concentrate on the name tag. We wrapped things up for the night (or day if you prefer) at 1.30.

After lunch, we continued with the name tags. But we soon went material shopping for the souvenirs. Unfortunately, we were out of luck. At both stops, they ran out of the items. =(

But we didn't let that take down our hyper-ness. We continued the name tags for about an hour or so, then we gave ourselves a break and went for a swim.

Zara had to leave after that, so I carried on with the name tags after my dinner. And it is finished! =) Next assignment, gadget tags. So stay tune.

Another meeting was held once again in my house. Among those who came were UL Wei Sheng.JoJo.Ka Ming.Winnie.Ai Leen.Li Jean.Min Sze.Yee Lin.Zara.

There wasn't a specific time as to when the meeting started as the members come & go at different times. Today's meeting had some progress. For starters, we completed planning our sketch. =) We then moved onto our combined & guides dance. We managed to complete part of our combined dance. As for the guides dance, we only got the starting part. =(

School Ain't Just For Studying

Due to the school term that is still on, we couldn't hold our meetings as some of us aren't able to skip school. Instead, we held the meetings in school.

Tuesday, 3rd November 2009 :

At 10 o'clock, School Canteen...

Min Sze, Wei Thing, Li Jean, Ai Leen, Yee Lin, Nicole and I started discussing about the sketch, the logbook, the souvenirs, the cooking, and the budgets & items to purchase for various competitions. We then started rehearsing on our sketch. We ended the meeting when the school bell rang and we went our separate ways.

Wednesday, 4th November 2009 :

Same time, same place...

Same people, different things.

We discussed about the outfits for the performances, and also the fancy dress dress. Of course, we joked around a little to brighten up the dull, rainy day. Sadly, the joked had to stopped because school started. =(

Thursday, 5th November 2009 :

Although Li Jean and Ai Leen couldn't make it, the meeting must go on. So as usual, we discussed about camp. Apparently, it's the only thing that's interesting to talk about as us CGLians have finished our exams. We managed to settle the plannings for the fancy dress and the sketch.

With a little more hard work, our work will be all done, and it will be time to freak out about Selection Day... then... CAMP!

The First Meeting

Monday, 19th October 2009

We managed to get our unit name. Although banéna and aépple were nice and funny names, we decided on Dryad. So allow me to introduce... the mighty Dryad. X)

After we settled that, we started on our dance. Nicole and I were planning the guides dance while the others started on the sketch. By the end of the day, we had a name for ourselves, and a rough idea for our dance and sketch.

PFS Combined Meeting

I know the meeting was held ages ago.
But I figured it was essential since that was the first meeting where all our members were gathered together.
Some of us are still not as familiar with each other as some of us who joined TX last year.
But no worries. With the all the meetings, I'm sure we'll be very close... like a family. =)

On the 24th of October 2009, Penang Free School was filled with scouts, guides and rangers from multiple schools.

Dividing patrols...

After we were divided into our respective patrols/units, we chose a table to sit down.
Since we knew each other pretty well, there were barely any akward silences. We introduced the new-comers to the scouts and vice-versa.
While the UL & US were with the EXCO's, the rest of us sat down and discussed about where the meetings should be held, who does what, etc.

Soon, we were called in to the horseshoe where the EXCO's introduced themselves.
And at 12pm, the meeting ended. But before we went home, we took a group picture of our unit.
